Daily Post Journalist tests out new ride
Daily Post reporter Ben Butler was one of the first to try out the new ride, here’s what he had to say:
“On your marks, get set, go… and I went hurtling down a spiralling tube flowing with water.
That thrilling experience came thanks to SolarSplash – a new solar-powered water ride at GreenWood Forest Park.
As I was taken to the ride by GreenWood Forest Park owner Stephen Bristow, my first challenge was to climb a 12-metre-high tower.
Sixty four steps later, I made it to the top of the tower where I had an incredible view of the whole of the park.
Firstly, I tried the hump-back chutes, where I was invited to hop into an inflatable boat big enough to carry two people.
After awaiting instruction from Brendan Brown, a member of GreenWood’s maintenance team, I was hurtled down the chute. It was all over in around five seconds and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Then I had a go on the spiralling tube, flowing with water, which again lasted a matter of seconds and saw me get a little splashed on the way down.
Once I finished the ride, I placed my inflatable boat back on a conveyor belt which transports the boats back up to the top of the tower.
The exhilarating ride is fully powered by solar energy – and the only thing I would say is, I wish it had lasted longer!”
